If you found yourself driving anywhere near Southall’s Agha Pan & Music Zone on the evening of the 8th July, you might have noticed that traffic was moving a little slower than usual. On behalf of Omniore, I’d like to extend a cordial apology for any inconvenience caused - but if you were among the hundreds who gathered for their Sidhu Moose Wala memorial event, you’d agree that it was with good reason!
Sidhu Moose Wala, born Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was an iconic Indian rapper, singer, and songwriter who left an indelible mark on the music industry and the hearts of his millions of supporters. His immense talent and socially conscious lyrics set him apart as one of the greatest Punjabi artists of all time, and his legacy has only continued to grow since his assassination in 2022. To the Omniore family, Sidhu Moose Wala was not just an artist; he embodied values that resonated deeply with their ethos. His messages of unity, simplicity, and positivity struck a chord with Omniore's founder, Roman, who saw in Sidhu an embodiment of the values that Omniore seeks to promote through its jewellery brand.
And so, with the full blessing of the artist’s parents, the Omniore team hosted a memorial giveaway in his honour. Fans were given a chance to win bespoke commemorative pieces by competing in a series of Sidhu Moose Wala themed quizzes, ending with 56 winners of 28 luxury pendants and 28 limited edition tees - a nod to the star’s age and a stark reminder of the untimeliness of his passing. Food was also provided for the attendees, who hailed from a colourful range of nationalities, ages and religious backgrounds. The entire non-profit event was funded by Omniore’s founder Roman - a fitting tribute to a man who, despite being so talented, is remembered for his humility.
“Saturday [8th July] showed that if you give people a chance, they’ll prosper.” Said the Omniore team, speaking after the event. “Expensive chains that people might have been expected to steal were being openly given away in the Broadway. We believe that people need the opportunity to show their best selves - when given the opportunity, the residents of Southall did exactly that - which contributed to such a successful event.”
The memorial event exemplified the Omniore team’s commitment to staying true to their roots and values. Roman further expressed to me his hope to organize more events like this as a celebration of the brand’s origins and the values it holds dear. Despite the brand's growth and success in their high-end retail jewelry leg, they chose to host the event in West London’s Southall Broadway, choosing an area rich with South-Asian culture over one of London’s more renowned luxury hubs.
It is clear that the spirit of Sidhu Moose Wala's music, which resonated so deeply with Omniore's founder and team, will continue to inspire the brand as they look to empower individuals, celebrate diversity, and foster a sense of community in all their future endeavours. The memorial event, with the amazing support of its attendees, truly embodied Omniore's commitment to sharing and preserving the lasting impact of Sidhu Moose Wala's message
